boxing kitten is a vintage inspired, print laden fashion brand founded by maya amina lake. maya is a native of brooklyn, ny with a bachelor’s in african american studies from Weslyan University. she is self taught + her clothing has been seen on various celebrities. also, the majority of the textiles used are ankara fabrics, which are described as “100% cotton veritable wax hollandais prints”, as the brand’s site states. the prints are unique, full of vibrant color, + unlike anything usually seen on celebrities these days. they are created using  textile methods such as batiking + wax block printing.
